“Have we no wine here?” is the name of my blog, but it is also a quote from Shakespeare, and often how I feel getting home after a full day working at a fun, busy, crazy winery.

This blog started as a place to answer my friends’ wine questions; not too long ago, I was just as baffled by wine terms and labels as anyone, but stepping into the wine industry has taught me a lot very quickly. I’ve also learned that there is no end to the learning; there is something new and surprising about wine every day!

I firmly believe that wine is a drink for anyone, on any budget, no matter how much or little you know about wine, so pour a glass and read along!

  1. Girl we are kindred spirits! Same story here, miffed by the wine industry because I wasn’t apart of the their elite club with their deep pockets and high brow language. Now I work in wine too and everything is different. i’m suddenly apart of the club. I’m like you trying to make wine less scary for people 21-30 who still think the wine biz is snooty. Amen sister! Definitely going to read your posts.

    1. I know exactly how you feel; wine seemed so hard to figure out until I realized that it actually isn’t!

What do you do in the wine industry?

      1. I’m a Project & Media Manager. It’s an umbrella title for a little bit of everything. I also work the tasting room, events, charity pours and submit wine to competitions. It a fun job but I work for a small boutique winery so I do the work of at least 2 people. What about you?

      2. I do tasting room and marketing, mostly, with a lot of shipping/events/wine club/dropping wine off at local restaurants. I think everyone wears many hats in the wine world!

    1. Hi PS,
I work at Saviah Cellars, which is a medium-sized winery in Walla Walla and makes some awesome wines! When I started writing this blog, I was working at Waterbrook Winery, which is a much larger winery in Walla Walla. Very different places, but I’ve learned a lot from both!

  2. I’d like to invite you to participate in a new challenge that I am hosting at thewanderinggourmand.com to bring together the beer, wine, and food blogging worlds. As you may know, each month I host a Beer Versus Wine Pairing Challenge inviting readers to suggestion their perfect pairing with a monthly dish. I decided to make the challenge even more engaging by turning the challenge into a contest with bragging rights. Each month a dish will be presented. Bloggers have a week to post their perfect pairing and why in the comments section. The following week, I will summarize the comments in a post for a vote. The winner not only earns bragging rights but also the honor of coming up with the following month’s dish.

Right now the contest will be hosted at thewanderinggourmand.com. Future plans involve a breakout sight and a badge to post back on your blog. I welcome you to join the challenge as it begins today with Beer Battered Fish (http://thewanderinggourmand.com/2014/02/26/beer-battered-fish-pairing/).
